[A revolutionary putty that speeds up model making]

Good news for busy modelers: If you need to make a simple repair. you can complete the entire job in 5 minutes! This special putty that hardens when exposed to light will change the way you think about model making.

Amazingly quick hardening time: It hardens in about 1 minute in direct sunlight and about 2 minutes under a tabletop fluorescent lamp (27W).

Easy to use with one-part formula: Since it does not use a hardener. you can take out only the amount you need and use it immediately. It is a smooth paste type that adheres well to the base.

Almost no sink marks: Since it is not a type that hardens by volatilization. there is almost no sink mark or thinning when hardening or even after a long time has passed.

Easy shaping after hardening: The hardened putty has excellent cutting properties. It can be easily scraped off with sandpaper or finishing paper. and the finish is smooth.

Can be painted with model paints: After shaping. the putty can be painted directly with model paint.

Yellow. 34g. in an aluminum tube. Instructions and a light-shielding bag are included.

Tamiya Light-Curing Putty FAQ

Q: Does it harden with UV light?

A: No. Tamiya Light-Curing Putty hardens with visible light such as sunlight or fluorescent lights. Therefore. no special lighting equipment is required. However. incandescent lamps and other high-temperature lamps are not suitable for hardening the putty as they will cause bubbles in the putty.

Q: Can I apply the putty thickly?

A: When applying Tamiya Light-Curing Putty. the maximum thickness is 2mm. This is to allow light to penetrate to the inside of the putty. However. if you apply more putty on top of the hardened putty. it is possible to make it thicker than 2mm. You can also combine and layer Tamiya putties other than light-curing putty.

Q: Will it harden with room lighting?

A: Tamiya Light-Curing Putty cures gradually even in weak light. but does not harden immediately in room lighting. so there is no need to rush the putty application. When applying the putty. avoid strong light near windows and turn off the lights nearby. It is not recommended to cure the putty in room lighting for a long time. as it may not cure completely.

Q: Is the putty shelf-life good?

A: It does not contain organic solvents. so it does not evaporate easily and has good shelf life after opening. After use. close the cap. put it in the included light-proof bag. and store it in a dark. cool place.

Q: Does it adhere well to the base?

A: Tamiya Light-Curing Putty is a smooth paste type. so it adheres well to the base. However. unlike lacquer putty. it is not a welding type that melts plastic. Therefore. when using it on a smooth surface. roughen the base with finishing paper of 180 to 400 grit in advance to improve the puttys adhesion.

Q: What is the hardness after curing?

A: After curing. Tamiya Light-Curing Putty is smooth and dense. It is also very easy to work with. In terms of hardness. it is slightly softer than plastic parts (PS resin). Therefore. when used to repair plastic parts. the putty is preferentially scraped off before the base. allowing for a quick finish.

Q: Are there any other precautions?

A: When Tamiya Light-Curing Putty hardens. a sticky residue (uncured material) remains on the surface of the putty. The sticky residue can be easily wiped off with a cloth soaked in Tamiya Lacquer Solvent. If you scrape off the putty with finishing paper. you can skip this wiping step.
